Kenneth Ellison Lett, a man with a generous heart and dedicated spirit, made his entrance on the world on December 18, 1943. He was born in Fort Worth, Texas to Kenneth Pickering and Mamie Francis Lett. After a life with much variety and excitement that touched many, Kenneth left us on April 12, 2025. He resided in Granbury, Texas where he pursued the desire to help make his community and town a great place to live and visit.
Ken’s love for life and multi-talented abilities provided him opportunities in various professional choices to explore. Starting after high school with the U. S. Air Force, he completed 8 years of service with primary duties involved with Operation Ranch Hand herbicidal and Agent Orange defoliation in Vietnam. Following discharge, he joined the team of a major theater movie company for the north Texas area. He advanced to position of Manager of a theater that led to an assignment in Oklahoma where he met his to be wife and the start of 52 years together.
After the reassignments to multiple theaters back in Texas, Ken felt the lifestyle of his profession was taxing on the family. That began a new season in his life. He had the desire to create something with the works of his hands. Woodcraft items were his choice. He opened a retail store to share his products with others. Another season began when he was led to attend Bible School. After completion, he and family were offered a pastoral position for a church which included a Christian elementary students academy in Aransas Pass, Texas. When that season was completed, he returned to Arlington, Texas to continue his love of crafting items with his hands. During that time he was affiliated with Bill Glass Prison Ministries and the Ft. Worth Jail ministry. The final season enabled him to move to Granbury where he opened an electronics repair store. The remainder of his seasons after the store closing were in retirement working with the community.
Ken took great joy in family gatherings and holiday celebrations. His partner in life’s journey, wife Barbara Janet Lett, was at the core of his world. Surviving family for carrying on Ken’s love of life are sons and their wives Richard & Rachel, Bryan & Wanda, Robert, and daughter Penny. Grandsons Jonathan, Trevor, Cory, Brandon and granddaughter Lareina. Great granddaughter is Blake. His sister, Nancy, completes the family circle.
Ken’s memory will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of those who knew him. As we remember him, we invite you to join us at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Martin Funeral Home, 100 S. Morgan, Granbury, Texas for the funeral service, 10:00 a.m. visitation prior to service.
