1929 – 2025
Elkland, Missouri……Kenneth E Mitchell, age 96, was born June 3, 1929, in Van Buren, Missouri, the son of Lon and Ida (Calahan) Mitchell. He passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025.
Kenneth faithfully served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Shortly after returning home on May 11, 1950, (just eight days after completing his service), he married the love of his life, Helen (Shipp). God blessed their 73 years together with a beautiful family, including their two sons, Vance and Bruce.
Kenneth built a long and respected career as a Chevrolet manager for GM. He was happiest when he could be outdoors ~ fishing, gardening, and enjoying the simple gifts of God’s creation.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents; his cherished wife, Helen; his brothers, Raymond Mitchell and JD Mitchell; sister, Barb; and son, Bruce Mitchell.
He is lovingly remembered by his son, Vance (Julie) Mitchell; four sisters, Beulah Campbell,, Lois Shants, Sue Carmichael, and Betty Slaybaush; three grandchildren, Justin Mitchell, Brandon Mitchell, and Kenny Mitchell; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 8th, 2025, at Turner Family Funeral Home in Maysville, with Rev. Jonathan Garlock Sr. officiating. Burial with full military honors will immediately follow services at the King City Cemetery.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
