Keith McGee

Harold “Keith” McGee, age 59, of Marion passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Hilltop Health & Rehabilitation in Rutherfordton, with his loving family at his bedside.

Keith was born on February 28, 1966, in McDowell County to Harold McGee of Marion and the late Sharon Moore McGee. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his sister, Erin Paige McGee, with whom he now shares a joyous reunion.

From the very beginning, Keith’s life was marked not by limitations, but by love and joy. Though born nonverbal and with physical challenges, he had a remarkable ability to brighten every room he entered. His happiness was genuine, his laughter contagious, and his smile a gift to all who knew him.

Keith had a big personality that shone through in countless ways. He had a special love for hats and was rarely seen without one perched proudly on his head. But nothing brought him more happiness than going for rides. It became a cherished routine, one that his devoted brother, Chris, lovingly carried out every single day. Those rides weren’t just trips down the road—they were moments of freedom, excitement, and connection.

To know Keith was truly to love him. His joy for life was a blessing, not only to his family but to everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.

Left to cherish his memory are his father, Harold McGee of Marion; his brother, Chris McGee of Marion; and two cousins who held a very special place in his heart, Kimberly McIntosh (David) and Todd Mustin, both of Marion. Countless other friends and caregivers also carry with them the joy of having known Keith and the lasting impact he made on their lives.

A graveside service to celebrate Keith’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. J.B. Cope officiating.

Flowers are welcome and appreciated. Those who wish to honor Keith in a special way are invited to make memorial contributions to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 374 Hudlow Road, Forest City, NC 28043, whose compassionate care was a blessing to both Keith and his family.
