Kathy Hayden Parris

Kathy Hayden Parris, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, North Carolina, following a prolonged illness at the age of 70. Born on December 25, 1954, in High Point, North Carolina, she was the youngest child of the late Vernie and Nellie Hayden. She is preceded in death by, in addition to her parents, her brother Kenneth Hayden, and her sisters Peggy Huscusson and Phyllis Duncan.

Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished spending time with her loved ones. She enjoyed laughing and reminiscing with her family while using photography to preserve important milestones and memories. Being a Christmas baby herself, the season held an extra special place in her heart. She enjoyed holiday-themed activities such as decorating the family tree and baking treats with her family, and took pride in her extensive ornament collection, which she began passing down to her daughters and granddaughters. Kathy also looked forward to her yearly visit to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, with her sisters.

Kathy leaves behind her loving husband of 52 years, Gordon Parris; her daughters, Brandy Lampke and Jill Baker (Robert); and two granddaughters, Allyson and Bailey Lampke. She is also survived by her siblings, brother Roger Hayden (Carolyn), sister, Sylvia Brown (David), and brother-in-law Raymond Huscusson, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Kathy’s Life will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Pastor Jesse Carr officiating.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Kathy’s memory are invited to make a memorial donation to: Elizabeth House, 581 S Allen Rd, Flat Rock, North Carolina 28731. Kathy’s laugh and kindness will be deeply missed by her loved ones; however, her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Shuler Funeral Home has the honor of serving the family.
