Kathryn A. Light (Hempel)

Kathy Light, 78, of Bay City, MI, passed away on August 1st, 2025. She was preceded in death by both her parents, Harold and Edna (Karpus) Hempel, as well as her sister Jeanne Weiss (Hempel), her brother Tommy Hempel, and great-nephew Ryon LaLonde.

Kathy worked as a Radiological Technician throughout her entire career — first at Mercy Hospital and later at Bay Medical Center. She was known for her vibrant personality, big heart, and strong beliefs. Outgoing and loving, Kathy never hesitated to speak her mind or stand up for what she believed in. A proud environmentalist long before it was trendy, she recycled everything.

She is survived by her two children, Greg (Jen) Light and Marlo Light; and by her nieces and nephews: Joe (Jen) Weiss, Patrice (Bernie) LaLonde, Doug (Lisa) Weiss, and James (Gina) Weiss — along with their families, all of whom she loved dearly.
