Kaidson Wade Davis, 23, of North Cape May passed away on April 26th, 2025, following a long and valiant struggle with depression.
Kaidson was born in Cape May Court House on April 7, 2002, and resided in North Cape May, NJ for the majority of his life, with a two-year residence in Queensbury, NY (2011-2013). He was a graduate of Lower Cape May Regional High School (2020) and Rowan University (2025).
From the time he picked up the violin in elementary school, music became a huge part of Kaidson’s life. In elementary school, he received the highest rating from the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) for his work with the violin. He continued with the violin throughout high school as a key member of the LCMR orchestra as well as playing percussion in the school band, and electric guitar in the school guitar ensemble and jazz band. Kaidson was inducted into the Tri-M Music Society, and in his senior year was selected to the New Jersey All State Guitar Ensemble for his work on classical guitar. In recent years, Kaidson developed a steadfast passion for the accordion, with a plan to become the “best heavy-metal accordionist in the world” where he could help change the world through his music. He was a true dreamer to his soul.
Kaidson was a member of the Boy Scouts of America where he earned the rank of Life Scout and was a member of the Order of the Arrow Scouting Honor Society. In high school, he was recognized as a SOLE (Students Owning Leadership Everyday) Student, Spotlight Student, a member of the National Honor Society, and graduated Summa Cum Laude and in the top ten of his class. At Rowan University, he was a recipient of the Presidential Scholarship, consistently achieved Dean’s List throughout his years there, and was recently awarded a Bachelor of Music in Music Composition.
Those who knew Kaidson remember him for his incredibly kind heart and gentle nature. He deeply valued all forms of life and was committed to living in a way that minimized his impact on the natural world. Kaidson followed a strict vegan lifestyle and practiced Jainism, a religious philosophy centered on nonviolence and minimizing harm to all living beings. These values guided not only his personal choices but also how he treated others – with compassion, respect, and most importantly, kindness.
He was predeceased by his grandfather, Terry Wade Davis, and his step-grandfather, Gary L. Hayes.
He is survived by his close knit, loving family; parents Kathryn L. (Kate) Davis and Travis W. Davis, his sister Molly K. Davis, and his beloved pup, Hudson Melvin Davis. His maternal grandparents, Kendall and Carole Minges, his paternal grandmother, Brenda Hayes, his paternal step-grandmother, Tina Davis, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins who played a special part in his life.
The family will hold a walk-through memorial service on Saturday May 17th from 10am -11:30am at Spilker Funeral Home, 815 Washington St., Cape May. Casual dress is welcome.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Kaidson’s memory to Vegan Outreach, Inc https://veganoutreach.org/2025-match/, the Atlantic/Cape May chapter of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Health) https://namiacm.org/get-involved/donate/, or the suicide prevention or mental health organization of your choice. If you feel the need to send flowers for the memorial, please send only potted plants (no cut flowers) to honor Kaidson’s wishes of protecting all living things.
