Joseph Smith

In loving memory of Joe Smith.

We are saddened and broken hearted to announce the passing of Joseph (Joe) Ervin Smith, aged 72 years, on June 20, 2025. Born in Omaha, NE on October 8, 1952, to Joseph Andrew Smith and Katherine Marie Miles Smith.

Joe served his country honorably and with distinction and retired from the United States Navy. Ever the Consummate statesman, he later served his country again in the Civil service. He was a loving and thoughtful husband and an amazing father. If you knew him, you probably loved him.

Joe is preceded in death by both of his parents, his stepfather George, brother John Smith, and sister Kim Strack.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years Kathryn Smith, daughter Jimi Smith, and son Brandon Smith, as well as siblings Tim Strack and Sonnie Cammack (Craig), brothers-in-law Bryan Withers, Randy Hill and Kevin Withers, Sisters-in-law Sharon Hill and Jackie Withers as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation is at 5-7pm Tuesday July 1st at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Orange Park, FL.

Funeral will be at 11:00am Wednesday July 2nd at Jacksonville National Cemetery. Reception to follow at the Family’s home.
