Joseph Richard

SUNSET ~ Joseph Loyton Richard, a gentle giant, a man of great strength yet even greater kindness. Those who knew him remember not a temper, but a steady patience and a quiet peace. To know him at all was to know his smile and his laugh, the quiet joy he carried into every room.

He and his beloved wife built a life marked not by anger or strife, but by love and laughter, always choosing gentleness. He cared deeply for the land and its creatures—horses, goats, cattle—and found joy in tending to them. He lived with frugality, never wasting, yet his generosity was boundless. If someone had a need, he gave without hesitation, often putting others ahead of himself. To his family and friends, he was a steady presence, strong, loving, and kind. A rare man whose life spoke louder than words.

Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Richard; one son, John Louis Richard; three daughters, Debbie Toney, Faye Castille, and Betsy Andre; eighteen grandchildren; one brother, Jimmy Richard; one sister, Mary Boudreaux; and a host of beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Richard and Andrea Lavergne Richard; one daughter, Rose Lane; one brother, Dalton Richard; and one sister, Marie Smith.
