Joseph Guy Baldwin
“Joe”
Joe passed away on June 21st, 2025, at the age of 65 following a battle with cancer. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Francis (Ridge) and Marcella (Marcy), sister Pattie Lorch and brother Dr. Steve Baldwin. He is survived by his sisters Carrie Schmitt (Mike), Debbie Baldwin, and Laurie Kontney (Bob), brother-in- law Jerry Lorch, sister–in law Lori Baldwin, cousin like a brother Mark Buchholtz (Charo), nephews Jason and Jeffrey Lorch, Evan Baldwin, nieces Meghan (Baldwin) Duerksen (Ross), Kelli (Kontney) Armstrong (Sam), great nieces Avery Duerksen, Cora Baldwin, and Emerie Armstrong, great nephew Merrick Duerksen, special friend Lucille, and numerous cousins and friends.
Joe graduated Holy Apostles grade school and New Berlin Eisenhower High School in 1979 and worked at Roundy’s Warehouse for decades and most recently at State Fair Park events at the admission gates. He was a faith filled man and loyal friend with a heart of gold and desire to serve others and help whoever or wherever he could. He took the New Year’s Day Polar Bear Plunge for 32 years straight to raise money for mission work in Guatemala and was a regular supporter of the Kids from Wisconsin, the Red Cross, and numerous other charities. Joe loved to attend Bible studies, play sheepshead, bowl, ride his bike, kayak, and when he was healthy, shoot buckets and cross-country ski.
Joe was a huge sports fan at every level and enjoyed following local high school sports and attending as many games as he could to support his local teams. He particularly loved his Steelers and Blackhawks. He used to coach both youth basketball and baseball and kept tabs on how his players did as they continued playing though high school and beyond. He was a walking encyclopedia of sports statistics and history! Joe also loved music, especially bluegrass, and he had collected cassettes and CDs and attended many bluegrass concerts, his favorite being the Big Cedar Bluegrass Band. He had a song for every situation and pretty much knew the words to every song! He loved playing sheepshead every Monday at the Muskego Moose Lodge and was a regular on the dance floor with his sweetie Lucille and anyone else who would dance with him.
Joe will be missed by all who knew, loved, and appreciated his quirky personality and stories, and he had many! “Be still and know that I am God…” (Psalm 46:10) was his favorite Bible verse, and while his body is now still, he is with his God and Savior.
Joe’s celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 11th, 2025, at CHURCH AND CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 15250 W. National Ave. New Berlin, WI from 10:00 AM until time of the Memorial Service at 12:00 PM.
