Joseph Harrington
WARREN – Joseph Patrick Harrington, age 95, entered into eternal rest Saturday, August 23, 2025 at home. He was born October 9, 1929 in Warren, the son of Patrick and Mary (Jennings) Harrington.
Joe was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School and the University of Windsor (Ontario). He retired with the rank of Captain from the Warren Fire Department and later retired from Warren City Schools. A member of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish – St. Mary’s Church, he also belonged to the Knights of Columbus and the Elks Lodge. He enjoyed reading, Notre Dame, and Ohio State University football. He also had a love for Ireland and its music.
Precious memories of Joe live on with five children: Kathleen Bilchak of Warren, Mary Williams (Joe) of Niles, Margaret Nestor (Jim) of Niles, Patrick Harrington (Mary Rose) of Richwood, Ohio, and Rose Wilson of Warren; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Thomas of Girard and Elaine Hackstedde (Pete) of Warren; two sons-in-law, Gary DelVecchio of Warren and Michael Szallay of Champion; his daughter-in-law, Cindy Harrington of Warren; many nieces, nephews and their families who loved Joe fondly and miss him dearly; and man’s best friend, Mickey, his loyal companion.
Preceding him in death are his parents; his beloved wife of nearly fifty-three years, Adalene (Jantson) Harrington, whom he married April 11, 1952 and who passed January 25, 2005; three children: Ann DelVecchio, JoAnn Szallay, and Michael Harrington; his son-in-law, Scott Wilson; four sisters: Margaret Hyden, Sister Mary Frances Harrington, Theresa Korodi, and Kathleen Vennetti; and his brother, John Harrington.
Calling hours are 9:00 to 10:00 am Friday, September 19, 2025 at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish – St. Mary’s Church, 232 Seneca Ave. N.E., Warren, Ohio 44481, where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, September 19. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. All who knew and loved Joe are welcome to attend and honor his remarkable life.
