Joseph C. “Dutch” Euton, age 92, passed away on August 4, 2025. He was born on July 9, 1933, in Velvet Ridge, Arkansas.
Dutch was preceded in death by his beloved wife of many years, Marie; his parents, Charlie Joseph and Leona (Babb); his brothers, Cleveland and Junior (J.R.); and his grandson, Adam.
A longtime member of First General Baptist Church, now Connection Church, Dutch never met a stranger. If you knew him, you knew he was always on the move—usually in his signature white tank top—whether he was prepping for a yard sale, tending his garden, shelling pecans, planting trees, or chasing after his monkey, Sam. He simply loved to stay busy.
Family was everything to Dutch. If it were up to him, he’d have company and good food every single day. He loved life, traveling to Honduras and even bringing back the floor and roof tiles for his well-known adobe home from Mexico.
Dutch was truly one of a kind—the only one-eyed barber we knew. Despite losing an eye as a child, he led a rich and varied life, filled with work and passion. He ran barber shops in both Marianna (Dutch’s Barber Shop) and Heber Springs (Queen’s Barber Shop), owned Dutch’s Garden Center in Heber Springs, worked as an insurance agent for Modern Woodmen of America, and served as the groundskeeper for both the campus and the President’s home at the University of Central Arkansas. He was also an active member of the Lions Club for over 50 years.
Dutch is survived by his four children: Derenda (John Evans), C. Gary, C. Troy (Autumn), and J. Renia (Jon Perkinson); his sister, Dolline Washam; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Connection Church on 2nd and Main in Heber Springs, Arkansas with Brother Donnie Archer officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 pm until the time of the service.
