Jonilu Harris

Jonilu “Lu” Boden Harris, born on August 25, 1957, passed away on December 10, 2024, in Chula Vista, California. 

She is survived by her daughter Brandi Harris and her wife Maddie Harris, along with their daughter Hattie Ann of Mooresville, North Carolina; her son Shawn Harris and his wife Lily Harris of Grand Junction, Colorado; and her mother Ann Boden of Chula Vista, California. She is also remembered by her cousins CeCelia Squires of Fountain, Florida; Tom Wilson of Louisville, Kentucky; Charlotte Smith of Albany, Oregon; and Beverley Reinschmidt of Weatherford, Oklahoma. 

Lu cherished her friends deeply and considered them family. Those who knew Lu fondly recall her love of sunflowers and dancing and her unwavering devotion to her family. Her kind and generous spirit left an indelible mark on everyone she met. She had a heart as big as the sky and a warmth that made all feel welcome in her presence.She was overjoyed to become a grandmother to her beloved granddaughter Hattie Ann and eagerly looked forward to reading to her and spending precious time together. 

Known for her infectious laugh that could brighten any room, Lu had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved. Her warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew her. 

A celebration of life will be held on March 22, 2025, at the Chula Vista American Legion from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor Lu’s memory together. 

May her legacy of love and joy continue to bring comfort to those who were fortunate enough to know her.
