Jon Daniel Stark, 86, of Mahwah, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, surrounded by family.

Born on October 28, 1938, in Bronx, New York, Jon was the son of the late Louis and Ruth Stark. He graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School, and went on to attend University of Connecticut and later SUNY Albany, where he earned his teaching degree. Jon began his career as a Spanish teacher at Linton High School in Schenectady, New York, and then taught for many years at Spring Valley Junior High School and Ramapo High School, also in New York, before ending his career at Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, NJ. He continued to work as a substitute teacher for the East Ramapo School District for many years to follow. He was a loved teacher/mentor and a true legend who left a lasting impression on all his students.

Jon was also a friend to so many and always seemed to know someone everywhere he went. He could often be seen sporting his favorite NY Jets hat and a warm smile. He loved going to the gym, and loved spending time with his family and friends even more. He is survived by his beautiful and loving wife of 33 years, Paula; his children, Scott (Debra), Michael (Randee), and Lauren (Aaron); his five grandchildren, Rylie, Zoe, Jake, Dylan, and Aiden – all who absolutely adored him; his brother, Paul, and brother-in-law, Murray; along with his beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Sheila, and his sister, Susan.

A funeral service for Jon will be held on Sunday, June 29th at 11:00 AM at Robert Schoem’s Menorah Chapel, followed by interment at Beth-El Cemetery in Oradell, NJ. Jon will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
