Jon Olson

Jon L. Olson, 79, of Melrose, passed away September 4, 2025, peacefully at his home after a courageous 8-year battle with lung cancer.

He was born on October 24, 1945, to Lawrence and Martha Olson. Jon was a 3rd generation truck driver, which he enjoyed and took great pride in. In his earlier years he farmed and hauled cattle with his father. He later worked for Melrose farm service in which he retired from. Jon married the love of his life Ruth Richard on September 10, 1976. 

Jon enjoyed the great outdoors, hunting, fishing, cutting wood and especially enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife and family. He also enjoyed watching Nascar. Jon was beloved by the community and had many friends and acquaintances. He will be truly missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and younger twin brother Gene.

He is survived by his wife Ruth, sisters Bonita “Bunny” Buchard, Janis (Chuck) Wendell, sister in law Ginny Olson, sons Jon (Mary) Olson II, Darin (Liz) Olson, Ira (Kelli) Olson, Grandkids Jon III (Tony), Devyn (Devin), Dackota, Danyon, Noah (Bailey), ShyAnne (Casey), Samuel, many great grandkids, and several nieces and Nephews,special friends Bo, Krystal, and Olivia Donnlley, and his dog Bear.

The celebration of life memorial service for Jon will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 12, 2025, at South Beaver Creek Lutheran Church, W16679 County D, Ettrick, WI. A visitation will be held at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow the service at South Beaver Creek Lutheran Cemetery.
