With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of John Wilkerson, Jr., who peacefully departed this life on May 24, 2025, at 2:15 PM, surrounded by his beloved family. He was 79 years old.

John was born on November 18, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, where his strong values and sense of duty began to take shape. A proud veteran, he served honorably during the Vietnam era, answering the call of his country with courage and dedication.

Following his military service, John continued a life devoted to public service and protection. He served as a police officer, later transitioning to a role as a federal agent with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). His distinguished career culminated in his retirement as an Assistant Federal Security Director with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), where he was highly respected for his leadership, integrity, and commitment to public safety.

John was more than his titles—he was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend. He was a man of quiet strength, integrity, and deep compassion. His steady presence, warm heart, and wise counsel will be missed beyond words. He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and honor that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him

John was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He was married to his beloved wife, Jaree, for 30 years, and together they shared a life of love, laughter, and partnership. He was a proud father to his daughter and son, and a man deeply admired for his steady presence, strong character, and quiet kindness. His love for his family and dedication to helping others defined who he was.

John’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him and in the values he instilled in his family and community.

A private scattering ceremony will be held by the family to honor his life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor John by performing an act of kindness, supporting a veteran, or sharing a cherished memory in his memorial group.
