John Ward

John Ward, 90 of Lavalette, WV, went to be with the Lord Sunday, May 25, 2025 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Fred Ferguson. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon Cemetery, Wayne, WV. He was born October 1, 1934 in Ceredo, WV, a son of the late Albert Edward Ward and Sadie Pruitt Ward. John was a retired vault handler from Morris Funeral Home with over 40 years experience in the funeral industry digging graves and setting vaults. In recent years John would tell you his greatest accomplishment was accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. His wife, Gladys Stepp Ward also preceded him in death, along with a daughter, Dorothy Luther; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Ward and Lilly Sexton; two brothers, Bill and James T. Ward. Survivors include three cherished daughters, Diana Macpherson of Huntington, WV, Brenda McCloud (Bobby) of Huntington, WV, Tonya Eplin (Rick) of Milton, WV; a sister, Mary Edwards of Ashland, KY; three grandchildren, Amanda Snyder (Shane), Monica Ward, Taylor MacPherson; three great-grandchildren, Zach Mullens, Jocelyn Snyder and Lexi Snyder. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2025 at Morris Funeral Home, Wayne, WV.
