John Golegos

John Golegos, Sr., 79, of Schaumburg, Illinois, and formerly of Leonidio, Greece, passed away on November 4, 2025. Beloved husband of Michele Schounnot. Loving father of Ari, George (Amber), and Johnny. Proud Papou of Grant and James. Cherished brother of Maria, Takis (the late Stamatula), Mike, and the late Nick (Davina). John will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Born in Greece, John came to America with little and built a life through hard work and dedication. He met Michele in a restaurant, and together they worked side by side for decades, eventually becoming the proud owners of Corfu Restaurants for over 40 years. He loved spending time with his family and cheering on his cherished Olympiacos soccer team.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 11th, from 3-8 p.m. at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Highway, Palatine, IL 60067. Additional visitation will take place Wednesday, November 12th, from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral service at 10 a.m. at St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church, 133 S. Roselle Rd., Palatine, IL 60067.
