John Fry, Sr.

John Allen Fry Sr., age 71, of Centerville, passed away Monday, July 28, 2025 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines.

John was born on August 27, 1953 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of William “Bill” Ross Fry and Geneva Avenell “Tootsie” (Stevens) Fry.

John was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed tinkering with things. John loved riding horses and his Harley. He was also fond of hunting and fishing at the river, but most of all, he cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.

Left to honor John’s memory are his wife, Cheryl Fry; his children, John (Sonya) Fry Jr., Nicole (Jeffery) McBride, Kenneth Fry, Travis Fry and Christopher (Jennifer) Fry; his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Fry; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a brother, Mike Stevens.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Geneva “Tootsie” Fry; his son, Matthew Ryan Fry; his grandson, Gaitling Fry; and his best friends, Harold Hayes.

Graveside services for John will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Hilltown Cemetery, near Moulton.
