Beatty; John Douglas George “Bud”
Born: March 16, 1932 Died: October 15, 2025

Born second child to late parents Jack Beatty and Florence (nee Smith).

Brother of Joan Bates (deceased), Reginald (deceased), step-brother of Anne Jeffrey.

Called “Bud” by all who knew him from the time he was knee high as his sister Joan could not pronounce Doug.

Bud is survived by his wife of 14 years. Barbara Bradley (nee Fry) resides at Helen Henderson Care Centre.

Bud leaves behind several nieces and nephews, Barbara’s children; Kate and Glenna, and their respective families. Bud especially enjoyed his bi-weekly visits from his niece Jody, when she brough him some of his favourite foods.

He was a long-time employee of Alcan. He enjoyed playing hardball at the cricket field and softball at Victoria Park for many years. Bud became a seasoned curler after retiring the bat. When his knees started to “sing”, he turned his interest to golf.

Bud’s cottage on Collins Lake was his haven from Spring to late Fall. If those walls could talk, they would tell tales of many parties over several decades.

Bud has lost many long-term friendships in his 93 years. Due to his health concerns he was missing Barbara’s love and companionship greatly.  

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to James Reid Funeral Home. There will be no visitation. A private graveside service will take place at Glenhaven Memorial Gardens.
