John Alo, 91, of Monroe Township, formerly of Brooklyn passed away on August 26th, 2025, at St. Peters Medical Center in New Brunswick, NJ.
John was born on January 20th, 1934, to the late John and Rose (Driano) Alo in Brooklyn. He lived in Brooklyn his entire life before retiring and moving to Monroe Township. John worked as a Lieutenant in the Security Service at the United Nations in New York for 30 years. In his career he met and protected many Heads of State include Presidents, Pope’s, the first men on the moon and even Fidel Castro. John was also a US Army Veteran who served during the Korean War period. He loved reading and watching political shows, going out for lunch and dinner with his retired friends from the United Nations and the Pond’s development, but most of all talking about his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the family functions. He always said that keeping the family close is the most important thing. In his time, he enjoyed traveling the world with his wife Caroline. He was loved and will be dearly missed by his family, but he is now at rest with his wife of 63 years, Caroline.
John is predeceased by his wife Caroline and survived by his son John Alo and wife Bertha, daughter, Rosanne Purcell and husband Alan; Five Grandchildren, John and wife Jennifer, Vincent and wife Falon, Nicole and husband Mark, Kelly and her Fiancées Tony, Jeni Rose and her husband Robert; five Great-Grandchildren, John Lucas, Trinity Rose, Grayson Alexander, Maggie Grace and Athena Sophia .
He was preceded in death by his father, John Alo, and his mother, Rose Driano.
Visitation will be held Tuesday September 2, 2025, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Old Bridge Funeral Home, Old Bridge, NJ. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, from 9:15 am until 9:45 am at the Old Bridge Funeral Home, followed by a 10:30 am Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle church with burial to follow at Brig William C. Doyle Veteran’s Cemetery.
Memorials in John’s name are suggested to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105, which he held dear to his heart.
