Joan Ellis

TRIMONT: A Funeral Service for Joan M. Ellis, 86, of rural Trimont, Minnesota will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Waverly Lutheran Church in rural Trimont with burial in Church Cemetery.

Joan was called to her eternal rest on Monday evening, April 14, 2025 at Bethesda Grand in Willmar, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m..- 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont, Minnesota and one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday.

Joan Marie Tuil was born on November 11, 1938 to Raymond and Marie (Johnson) Tuil in Fairmont, Minnesota. She was raised in rural Trimont and attended church at Waverly Lutheran where she was baptized and confirmed. Joan was a 1957 Graduate of Trimont High School. After working in the community for awhile she and a friend ventured to the state of California where she met her future husband, George Ellis. They were married in Sacramento and had one daughter, Sharon. Later they moved to Minnesota when Joan’s mother was diagnosed with cancer. After her mother’s passing they moved to Mississippi for George’s employment. Eventually, they found their way back to California and settled in Lompoc where Steven was born in 1970. They made Bethany Lutheran their church home. She enjoyed raising her children in Lompoc and visiting home bound church members. In 1985, she moved back to the family farm in rural Trimont. She took pride in taking care of the farm and keeping it looking nice. She enjoyed visiting with her friends and family and staying informed about their lives. At the end of 2024 she moved to Bethesda Nursing Home in Willmar for a higher level of care and to be closer to her daughter, Sharon, in her final days.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon and John Cola of Willmar, Minnesota; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Ellis of Welcome, Minnesota; grandchildren, Stephanie Ellis, Katelyn Ellis, Tony Cola, Michael Cola; great-grandchild, Aria Cola; brother, Norman Tuil of rural Trimont, Minnesota; nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Marie Tuil; son, Steven Ellis; brother, Donnie Tuil; infant sister, Janet; former husband, George Ellis and other relatives.
