Joan Christman

Joan Elizabeth Christman, 86, of Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025. Born on February 12, 1939, in Massillon, Ohio, Joan dedicated her life to nurturing others, both through her profession as a nurse and her role as a loving homemaker.

A devoted member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Joan cherished her faith and was an active contributor to her church community. Whether through assisting in their mailing, cooking for her fellow members, or lending a helping hand, her spirit of generosity and service touched the lives of many. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, whose love for her family knew no bounds.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Melva McMaster; and sisters, Molly Biscoe and Nancy Kenneweg.

Joan is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Leland Christman; children, Leland Kirk (Lynette) Christman, Mark Douglas (Connie) Christman, and Jane Elizabeth (Dale) Kolonchuk; grandchildren, Leland “Tony”, Nicole, Jessica, Justin, Drew, and Logan; and great grandchildren, Nate, Kayden, Kaylee, Karson and Briley.

Funeral services will be held on July 23, 2025, at Otterbein United Methodist Church (6025 Shepler Church Ave SW, Navarre, OH 44662), with visitation from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM and the service to follow at 12:00 PM. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Hills Burial Park (5001 Everhard Rd NW, Canton, OH 44718).
