Jo Bishop

Jo Ellen Bishop, a vibrant spirit and beloved member of her community, was born on October 6, 1950, in Hundred, West Virginia. She peacefully left this world on July 9, 2025, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of kindness and dedication. Jo Ellen was 74 years young.

Jo Ellen’s life was a beautiful blend of love, learning, and service. After raising her family, she returned to college at the age of 48 to study Environmental Engineering at Stark Tech, where she proudly earned a spot on the Dean’s List. Her passion for education and personal growth didn’t stop there; she also shared her enthusiasm by teaching Junior Achievement at Dueber School and leading Girl Scout Troop 517, where she was proud to receive the 10-year honorary pin. Jo Ellen’s zest for life was infectious, and she inspired many with her commitment to both her studies and community. Jo Ellen enjoyed attending services at the Church of Christ, where her faith blossomed. Above all else, Jo’s greatest joy in life was being a mother.

She held a cherished place in the hearts of her family and friends. Jo loved reminiscing about the wonderful times spent in Long Beach with her husband, Marion, before launching into the joys of motherhood. While she enjoyed many fulfilling moments, she eagerly looked forward to her reunion with Marion, carrying his love in her heart until the end.

Jo Ellen was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Lillian Lorraine Hunt, husband Marion “Mark” Bishop, and infant son Jonathan. She is survived by her son Joseph Bishop (Heather), daughters April Kossbiel (Chad) and Allison Bishop (Garin Greyeyes), grandchildren Molly, Benny, and Zane, (who were her world), brother Randy Hunt (Laurie), sister Judy Rohrer, cousins, many nieces and nephews whom she adored, dear family friend that was loved like a daughter Brandy McClurg, and all of the beloved animal companions in her life.

To honor Jo Ellen’s remarkable journey, a Funeral Service will be held on July 15, 2025, at 6:00 PM at Reed Funeral Home NORTH CANTON Chapel 801 Pittsburg Ave NW North Canton, OH 44720. Family and friends are invited to gather for Calling Hours and Visitation on July 15, 2025, from 3:00 PM at the same location. A Graveside Service will follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens on July 16, 2025, at 10:00 AM, where Jo Ellen will be laid to rest.
