Jo-Ann La Pierre

Jo-Ann La Pierre

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jo-Ann Lee La Pierre, a resident of Chetwynd, British Columbia, on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at the age of 52 years.

Jo Ann Calahasen was born on November 10, 1972, in Fort St. John, British Columbia, and passed away surrounded by love and family. She grew up in Chetwynd, where her vibrant spirit and boundless energy left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her.

Part of a large and loving family, Jo Ann’s heart was just as big — she was known for her kindness, adventurous nature, and magnetic personality. Outgoing and never shy, she had a special way of making people feel welcome and seen.

She attended Chetwynd Secondary School and began working at a young age, holding her first job at Dixie Lee at just 15. Throughout her life, Jo Ann remained a dedicated worker and community member. She held a certificate in social work and spent time supporting others through her roles at Saulteau First Nation, IGA, JoJo Beans Coffee and West Moberly First Nations. A true entrepreneur, she fulfilled one of her dreams by opening her own coffee shop, where she took great pride in serving the community and building connections over a good cup of coffee.

Jo Ann loved sports, especially volleyball and was a huge supporter of her children’s hockey journeys, often seen cheering from the stands or packing up for weekends at the rink. In the summertime, she found joy in being out at the lake, “booting” around in the boat, laughing, and soaking up the sunshine with her family.

Jo Ann lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventure. Her legacy is one of strength, generosity, and warmth. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Jo-Ann was predeceased by her husband Jose La Pierre; mother Leona Redhead; and brother Billie Jo Redhead.

Jo-Ann is survived by her children Destiny Calahasen, Jose La Pierre Jr; grandchildren Miyla, Leerah, Juniper, Shepherd; father Elvin Calahaisen; brother Leon Collins; as well as many extended family and friends.

The La Pierre family would like to invite you to join them in celebrating her life on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Chetwynd Legion Hall.

Very Respectfully, Reynars Funeral Home and Crematorium
