Jingxiu Zhang

Jingxiu Zhang, a beacon of intelligence, optimism, and faith, departed this world on September 13, 2025, in Dover, NJ, after a valiant battle with pneumonia. Born on October 6, 1939, in China, Jingxiu’s life was a remarkable journey of resilience, love, and transformation.

A scholar at heart, Jingxiu majored in mathematics and went on to share her passion as a respected professor at the Nanjing Institute of Technology. Her love for mathematics was more than academic—it was a language through which she expressed clarity, logic, and beauty. Her students remember her not just for her brilliant mind, but for her patient guidance and unwavering belief in their potential.

Jingxiu’s life was deeply intertwined with her beloved husband, Weifan Tang. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, curiosity, and devotion, raising two children, Xiaohan Tang and Xiaohao Tang. As her children grew into adulthood and began families of their own, Jingxiu remained a steady presence—offering wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love.

During Weifan’s illness, Xiaohan introduced him to Christianity, offering comfort and peace in his final days. After his passing, Jingxiu moved to the United States and, through Xiaohan’s continued guidance, embraced the same faith. Her conversion marked a deeply personal and transformative chapter—one that brought her solace, strength, and renewed purpose.

Christianity became a quiet but powerful force in Jingxiu’s life, guiding her actions and deepening her compassion. Her beliefs shaped the way she lived, offering support to others and cultivating lasting friendships within her church community. Her children remember her as a mother who led by example, teaching them to face life’s challenges with grace and to always look for the silver lining.

Jingxiu lived her beliefs with grace. She was known for her gentle demeanor, her generosity of spirit, and her readiness to offer a kind word or helping hand. She found solace in scripture and community in her church, where she formed lasting friendships and served as a mentor to others seeking spiritual growth.

Beyond her academic and spiritual pursuits, Jingxiu found joy in the elegance of classical Chinese poetry and the intellectual challenge of solving complex mathematical problems. These passions reflected both the depth of her cultural roots and the sharpness of her analytical mind. She loved to travel, marveling at the beauty of the world and seeing in its diversity the hand of God. Whether exploring a new city or sitting quietly with yarn in hand, she approached life with curiosity and reverence.

Jingxiu’s life was a tapestry of love, learning, and faith. She lived by the wisdom of Helen Keller’s words: “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched—they must be felt with the heart.” And indeed, Jingxiu felt deeply with her heart and encouraged others to do the same.

As we say goodbye to Jingxiu Zhang, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul that has surely found peace in the loving embrace of the Lord. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the knowledge she shared, and the quiet moments of reflection she inspired. She will be dearly missed, but her memory will remain a blessing to all who knew her.
