FULLERTON—Jim C. Mobley, 74, of Fullerton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at his home.

Jim was born April 22, 1950, to James Jr. and Alice (Crippen) Mobley in Blair, NE. He spent his childhood in Decatur and graduated from Decatur High School in 1968. After high school, Jim began working for Layne Western in Omaha. On July 19, 1970, he married Mary Upton in Neligh. The couple first moved to Atkinson, where Jim worked for Peterson Cattle Company, before settling in Neligh, where he started his career with the State of Nebraska Department of Roads.

Jim later transferred to the Fullerton office, which became their permanent home. He worked for Whited and Sons, Inc. in Fullerton for nearly 20 years before purchasing his own semi-truck in 1999. As an independent trucker, Jim continued working until his retirement in 2019. Over the years, he also lent a hand to many farmers in the Fullerton area.

Jim was deeply passionate about cars. He was a lifelong member of the Twin River Cruisers and spent over 20 years with the Nebraska Rod and Customs Association. He took great pride in restoring a 1967 Plymouth Fury III convertible and loved attending local car shows. A dedicated NASCAR fan, Jim also enjoyed weekends at dirt tracks, cowboy movies, and building his impressive collection of pocketknives.

He survived by his wife, Mary of Fullerton; sons, Robert Mobley of Fullerton, Paul (Geri) Mobley of Seward, and Tom (K im) Mobley of Beatrice; three grandchildren, Ethan and Dalton Mobley, and Mariettah Werner; two great-grandchildren, Cleo and Marcie Mobley; sister, Connie Upton of Winside; twin brothers, Mike (Cheryl) Mobley of West Texas, TX and Gary (Violet) Mobley of Decatur, NE; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law, Lynn Upton and Phil Warner.
