Jill Pitzlin

Jill S. Pitzlin of Martinez, CA entered her heavenly home on February 4, 2024 after an 8+ years long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Jill was born on September 21, 1953 to Orlie and Lorraine Uttech in Waupun, WI. She graduated from Dodgeland High School in 1971 and married her high school sweetheart Mark Pitzlin on October 27, 1973. Together they moved from Wisconsin to sunny California. Jill spent her life loving and serving others through her many jobs: Kids N Cribs children’s store, school secretary at First Lutheran in Concord, district administrator at Mount Diablo Unified School District; while also loving and serving her children who she fought so hard to conceive. Jill enjoyed spending time with family and friends, game nights, traveling, concerts, and was an active member of local Lutheran Churches including First Lutheran in Concord, St. Matthew Lutheran in Walnut Creek and St. Marks Lutheran in Pleasant Hill. She even played for many years on the church softball team at 2nd base. She retired at 62 from the Mt. Diablo Unified School district testing center. She spent retirement as Mark’s smiling sidekick, accompanying him to softball games, puppet shows, feeding the homeless, grandkids sporting events, and many more adventures. She never lost her sense of humor and love of music. While her mind and ultimately her body was taken from us too soon; her love and gentle spirit will forever live in our hearts.

Jill is survived by her loving husband Mark of Martinez, CA; daughter Jessica Rice and husband Joseph of Pacheco, CA; son Joshua Pitzlin and wife Kelly of Port Angeles, WA; grandchildren Joelle and Jonathan Rice and Elliott and Remi Hogan Pitzlin; twin sister Joy Ruebush and husband Richard of Campobello, SC; brother Mitch Uttech and wife Cathy of Steamboat Springs, CO; brother Rick Uttech of Oconomowoc, WI; and many other family and friends who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents Orlie and Lorraine Uttech.

A celebration of life service will be held at 4:30pm on Sunday, April 7th ,2024 in the multi-use room at First Lutheran Church in Concord, CA.
