Jessie Crews

Mrs. Jessie Crews was born December 27, 1939 at home to Tessie Berry and Brucie Berry in Windsor, North Carolina, where she spent her early childhood living with a sister (Edna) and one brother (Johnny).

When Jessie was a kid, she was raised by her grandmother and grandfather in the country while her mother went to New York in search of a better life for her children. Later, Jessie also moved to New York and started her life. She had 13 kids—7 sons and 6 daughters.

Jessie was as free spirit and loved by everyone around her. She was always on the go with her sister. They loved to travel back and forth from New York to north Carolinas and all the in-betweens. (If you know, then you know) and continued to be great mothers.

Jessie was married twice. Her second husband was the love of her life and soulmate, Clifton Crews, and he changed her life forever. She became the housewife she always wanted to be and stayed married for 40 years. They were together for 50+ years, and they raised her children and their grandchildren together. Jessie and Cliff stayed in Bronx Refuge Church for over 30 years.

In 2018, Jessie moved to Plymouth, NC where she brought her dream brick house and on July 1, 2025 is where her soul rested. She leaved behind 4 kids: Charles Williams, Plymouth, NCF, Sharon Williams Hodge, New York, Dianne Thomas, Bronx, NY, James D. Thomas, Plymouth, NC; 14 grandkids, Jessie C. Williams, Uland L. Berry (Raheem), Travis V. Packer, Vernon L. Snell, Alex Guerrara, James S. L. Thomas, Reginald P. Parker, Bosede Adekunle, Folake Adekunle, Patrice Strebner, Abisole Adekunle, Tina Berry, Ebony Berry, Stephanie A. D. Thomas, and an abundance of great grandchildren as well as a host of other family members.

When she gets to them pearly gates, she will be reunited with Tessie Berry (mother), Brucie Berry (father), Clifton Crews (husband), Vernon Berry (son), Theresa Berry (daughter), John Spivey (brother), Edna Cherry (sister), and Marilyn White (granddaughter.
