Jay Allen Moore, age 90, of Festus, Missouri, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Mercy Hospital South in South County, Missouri. He was born March 12, 1935, in Marquand, Missouri, the son of the late Grace (nee Dees) and Justin Moore.
Jay was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Delores Carolyn (née Myers) Moore, and his sister, Helen (the late B.D.) Hawn.
He is survived by his daughters Jacqueline (Greg) Holdinghausen of Festus, Sheila (Paul) Vlaich of St. Louis, Missouri, and Dana (Nathaniel) Brooks of Arnold, Missouri; sister Shirley (the late James) Priest of Marquand, and his twin sister Kay Sitzes of Arnold. Jay was a proud grandfather to Nicholas (Hilary) Holdinghausen, Amy Holdinghausen, Chris (Moria Ostrander) Vlaich, Kate Vlaich, Julia Brooks and Stephen Brooks; great-grandchildren Harper Holdinghausen and Halle Holdinghausen; and many extended family and friends.
Jay retired from Missouri Natural Gas/Laclede Gas Company after many years of dedicated service. He was a long-time member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Festus and a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1958 to 1960.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Festus, from 9:30 AM until time of service at 11:00 A.M., officiated by Pastor Kyle Castens. Interment, with full military honors will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jay’s name to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 221 Brierton Ln, Festus, MO 63028.
