Janice Dotson
Janice Lee Dotson, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on September 8, 1953, in Buncombe County, North Carolina, she remained a lifelong resident of the area, dedicating her life to service and excellence.
Janice was a proud graduate of T. C. Roberson High School in Asheville, class of 1971, and went on to earn an associate’s degree from Asheville-Buncombe Community College in 1973. Her commitment to community service was evident throughout her distinguished career.
For 40 years, Janice served with dedication and integrity at the NC State Extension, retiring in 2018. As the West District Administrative Associate, she was a cornerstone of support for agents, staff, and the District Director, who relied on her vast knowledge and expertise to carry out their programs. Her unwavering dedication to excellence was recognized with the prestigious NC State University Award of Excellence.
Janice was also a leader in her professional organization, the NC Cooperative Extension Administrative Professionals Association, where she held numerous district and state offices. Her contributions were honored with the Association’s highest accolade, the Distinguished Service Award.
A devoted member of Gashes Creek Baptist Church in Asheville, Janice’s faith was an integral part of her life. She found strength and community within her church family.
Janice is preceded in death by her parents, Crawford and Mildred Dotson, and a set of infant twins who died at birth. She is survived by her significant other, Joe Conner; her brother, Gary Dotson, and his wife, Dodee; nephews Barry Dotson (Tracy) and Bart Dotson; great-nephew Brett Dotson; and her best friends and caregivers, Sandra Kanupp and Judy Bowman.
A graveside service will be held on December 2, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Kings Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, located at 2798 Pace Rd, Hendersonville, NC 28792.

Janice Lee Dotson will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her work, her community, and her family. Her legacy of service and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew her.
