James West

James Brannon West 53, of Star City, passed away doing what he loved, on Thursday, August 21, 2025. Brannon was born April 14, 1972 in Pine Bluff to James and Marian Sue Frizzell West. He was an IA and A&P aviation mechanic, and owner of JB West Aviation of Dumas and Pine Bluff. Brannon was a member of the Commemorative Air Force, Current Vice President of the EAA Razorback Chapter 1388, manager of Billy Free Memorial Airport in Dumas, a Star City Municipal Airport Commissioner and Waffle House lifetime club member. He enjoyed camping, golfing, riding motorcycles, and anything to do with aviation, but his biggest joy was his family. Brannon loved going out to eat and sunset rides with his wife, attending UCA games to watch his son play in the band, and being a dance dad for his daughter.

Brannon is preceded by his maternal grandparents, James “JT” and Audrey McGregor Frizzell, and paternal grandparents, James and Bertha West.

Survivors include his loving wife, Brandi Jo Owen West, parents, James and Marian Sue Frizzell West, son, James Tanner “JT” West, and daughter, Addilyn Saige Hopkins all of Star City, and many extended family and friends.

Visitation is 6:00 to 8:00pm Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Griffin Funeral Service in Star City. Funeral Services are 10:00am Wednesday, August 27,2025 at the Star City First Baptist Church with Bro. Matt Mosler and Bro. Tyler McKinney Officiating. Burial will follow at Best Cemetery. Pallbearers are Tim Bates, Jack Cole Freeman, Joey Guthrie, Cameron Morgan, John Curtis Jackson, Robert Reed, Jeff Frizzell, Wes Hansen and Matthew Padgett. Memorials may be made to the Star City Municipal Airport, PO Box 219, Star City, AR 71667.
