Mr. James H. “Jim” Stahl, 82, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Friday, June 13, 2025, at Chambers Pointe Health Care, Chambersburg, PA.
Born October 2, 1942 in Greencastle, PA, he was the son of the late Glen and Isabelle Stahl, both of Greencastle.
He grew up as a young farmer living the farm life and learning the skills of farming while he attended and graduated from Greencastle High School in 1960. Jim also worked in other industries that included pallet building, metal works and fabrication, and forklift operator. He enjoyed the working life and you would rarely find him take a day off work even if he was sick.
Jim met his wife Erma in 1985 and were soon to be married the following year on June 14, 1986, where the two of them settled into their new home together where they remained joined together as one until this very day.
Jim was a dedicated father to his only daughter Carna and once marrying Erma he gained many stepchildren and grandchildren. As years passed and he gained additional grandchildren and step grandchildren and great grandchildren, he would enjoy all coming home for picnics or holiday times for great food and laughter.
Jim enjoyed spending time mowing and gardening, along with visiting local fairs with family, watching tractor pulls, and on weekends going with his uncle to farm sales to only see the equipment and what it was selling for.
He is survived by his children: Carna Sue Wilson (Friend, Michael Renn) – Williamsport Md, Step Children – Pam Sanders (Husband Denny) of Chambersburg, Theresa Short of Greencastle, Samuel Smith Jr (Wife Terry) of Chambersburg, Wayne Smith (Fiancé Donna) of St Thomas, Curtis Smith (Friend Cindi) of Cleveland Texas, 2 sisters, Betty Eshleman (Husband Byron Deceased) of Greencastle Pa, Clara Hess (Husband James) of Chiefland Fl, Grandchildren – 2 and Great Grandchildren 1, Step-grandchildren – 11, Step- Great Grandchildren – 25, Step and Great Great Grandchildren -4.
Funeral Services will be held at 11AM, Monday, June 23, 2025, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 50 Ragged Edge Rd. Chambersburg, PA, with John Monn officiating. Burial will follow in Stenger Hill Cemetery, Fort Loudon.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St. Greencastle, and again from 10:30 A.M. until the start of the service, at the church on Monday.
