James Smith

James William Smith, 78, of Ellenboro, WV died Sept. 29, 2025 at Camden Clark Medical Center, Parkersburg, WV.

He was born August 15, 1947 at Huntington, WV the son of the late Waitman Davis and Viney Louise Hesson Davis. James was a US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. He had been a self-employed Barber for 15 years at Smith’s Barber Shop, then he worked at Mid Atlantic Glass for 29 years and retired from Simonton Windows with 10 years. James enjoyed hunting and writing poems. He was a Boy Scout Leader of Troop 132 and a member of Ellenboro Wilson Church.

James is survived by his wife Shirley Jean Seese Smith; children, Rick Smith (Lisa) of Glendale and Cindy Morgan (Neal) of Pennsboro; grandchildren, Michaela McKinney (Cole), Shelby Smith (Kyle Carpenter) and Kylar Morgan; sister, Cathy Adkins of Branchland, WV and brother, Waitman Davis, Jr. (Francis) of Huntington.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Linda Clark.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, October 2, 2025 at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, with Pastor David Wilson and Pastor Mary Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairmont Ridge Cemetery, Ellenboro, WV. Friends may visit at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-8 PM.
