James Hull, Jr
James (Jim) Taylor Hull, Jr. was born on May 20, 1944, to James Taylor Hull, Sr. and Jeanette Morrison Young at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Berkeley, California. Raised in Hidden Valley, Jim graduated from Acalanes High School in 1962. After completing his college studies, Jim honorably served in the United States Navy from 1967 to 1972, where he fought in the Vietnam War. Following his military service, Jim had a rewarding career as a General Contractor until his retirement.
Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Shirley Hull of Redding; his four children: David Hull of Redding, James Taylor (Katie) Hull, III of Chico, Melissa (Matt) Blofsky of Farragut, and Jennifer Hull of San Francisco; and his six cherished granddaughters: Kaylie, Grace, Emma, Jane, Hope, and Lila. He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Davis of Lafayette.
Among his many hobbies, Jim enjoyed playing and watching golf, hiking, yard work, reading mystery novels, and spending time with his beloved furry companions, Gigi, Kramer, Tucker, Chloe, Annie, and Taylor. Jim, Shirley, and their pets embarked on countless adventures in their motor home, creating lasting memories along the way.
Jim will be remembered for his kindness, gentle spirit, sense of humor, captivating story-telling, and unwavering work ethic. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him, but his memory and legacy will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
A memorial service will be held on March 8, 2025, at 1:00pm at Hull’s Walnut Creek Chapel, 1139 Saranap Ave, Walnut Creek, CA 94595.
