SCOTTSDALE – Jim passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10th, 2025. He was diagnosed
with ALS in April. Despite losing the ability to talk, eat, drink, walk and write, he maintained
his great sense of humor and endured without complaint.
Born on September 5th, 1948, in Evergreen Park, Illinois, Jim had a carefree childhood in Villa
Park. He graduated from Saint Francis High School, Wheaton, IL. He later met the love of his
life, Connie, while at Northern Illinois University. Together they built a life filled with love
and laughter.
Jim enjoyed a successful career in Sales and Marketing in the medical field, where his wit,
warmth, and integrity earned him the respect of colleagues and customers. He moved his family
from the Midwest to the East Coast and Canada, before relocating to Arizona in 1999, where
he retired in 2012.
Jim will be remembered for his joke-telling, kind heart and zest for life. He had a gift for
meeting people and making friends. His organizational skills were amazing – just ask the many
golf groups he ran at Tatum Ranch Golf Club. Jim was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan, celebrating
their 2016 World Series win with uncontainable joy. He loved the Masters, sinking a putt from
off the green, music (especially John Prine), scotch, and a well-poured beer.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Betty and Jim Dolan. He is survived by his wife of
53 years, Connie; his daughters and their husbands, Sarah and Christian, Valerie and Senna;
his three granddaughters, Liv, Charlotte, and Mirah; his siblings Rich (Debbie) and Mary
(Jason); and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to ALS Arizona in Jim’s memory. We
also request you raise a glass to toast a life well lived. We love you Jimmy D!
