James “Bing” Warren

Jim Warren, 93, died at home, after a short illness on June 13, 2025. He was born July 5, 1931, in Janesville, Wisconsin, to Archie and Lucille (Atkinson) Warren, the second of two sons. When he was in second grade, the family moved to Plumb Street in Milton. Following graduation from Milton Union High School in 1949, he briefly attended Milton College and received his bachelor’s degree from Whitewater State Teachers College (UW-Whitewater) in 1954. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. After 2 years working in public accounting, Jim taught business courses at Elkhart Lake High School for 2 years and Janesville Senior High School for 4 years. On June 6, 1959, he and Mari Anne Voss were married in Lake Geneva. Jim completed work for his master’s degree at UW-Madison and began employment at Gazette Printing Company (Bliss Communications) in 1964, where he worked for 32 years in accounting and human resources, until retirement in 1996. Following retirement, Jim worked part-time for several years at Dave’s Ace Hardware, Milton. In 1981, he established a small business known as The Trophy Shoppe in Milton, which in 1998 was sold to his son, Mark and Mark’s wife, Lori, who expanded it and operated it as American Awards & Promotions, until 2024.

Over the years, Jim coached youth baseball, was the first president of the Milton Jaycees, was a local Cubmaster, was known as the “dictator” of the Oak Ridge Wednesday Men’s Golf League for 18 years, and was a member of the boards of directors for Bliss Communications, Bank of Milton, and The Gathering Place. Jim and Mari Anne had four sons, David, Mark, Scott and Paul. Scott was killed in an auto accident in 1988 at the age of 19.

Jim will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 66 years, Mari Anne, sons David (Lori) and Paul of Milton, and Mark (Lori) of Janesville, grandchildren Savannah, Isabelle and Lilly. He was predeceased by his parents, his in-laws, Irv and Irene Voss, his sister-in-law, June Voss, his brother, Bob, and son, Scott.

Funeral services, officiated by Fr. Louie Morrone, O.P., will be held at 11am on Wednesday, June 25 at Albrecht Funeral Home, Milton. Following the service, burial with military honors will take place at St. Mary Cemetery in Milton. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 24 from 4-6pm, and at 10am on Wednesday prior to the service.
