James Anderson

James A. Anderson, age 96, of Chillicothe, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at The ARC of Chillicothe.

James was born on March 27, 1929 in Kansas City, MO. He was adopted by Tom and Elna Anderson and was raised in Chillicothe. He married Shirley (Martin) Mooney-Anderson in 1988 in Lacon, IL.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley; his children, Jill (Dennis) Pyzyma of Chicago, Jamie (Carol) Anderson of San Diego, CA and Judy Anderson of Daytona, FL; his stepchildren, Doug (Joanne) Mooney of Chillicothe, Dane (Mary) Mooney of Bloomington, Dan (Pat) Mooney of Rome and Diane Butler of Chillicothe; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepdaughter, Debbie Mooney-Dilonardo; and his sister, Mary Lee Barker.

James attended Northern University. He worked for McGraw-Hill until 1989, when he opened his architectural sales company. He was also an avid tennis player.

Cremation rites will be accorded and a Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 11am at St. Edward Catholic Church in Chillicothe with visitation held one hour prior to Mass. Burial of ashes will be at Chillicothe City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Community Needs Agency. Arrangements are under the care of Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
