James Allgood

James Edward Allgood – Jim or Jimmy to most – passed away on August 28th at his late sister’s (Mary “Mamie” Allgood McGuffey) home in Glen Rose, Texas. He was 69 years old.

Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Jim was the eldest child of the late Rose Ann (née Pastore) and Roland Allgood, Jim spent most of his life in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Jim was incredibly bright, choosing to enlist in the Army and continue his education, completing both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in pursuit of his career. He spent much of his professional career as a successful management consultant, traveling the world, with an incredible work ethic, and took immense pride in his career and service. His quick wit and intellect were often at the forefront of interactions, and he had a love of Motown music.

He is survived by his daughters, Christina Roseann Allgood and Joanna Marie Allgood (Michael). Jim is also survived by his wife, Christine De Taranto Allgood; his brothers Roland Allgood, and Anthony Allgood (Nancy), and his sister, Isabelle Allgood Neal (Billy); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, and friends.

Jim is remembered with the hope that his journey might inspire others: to seek help sooner, to find forgiveness, and to choose connection each day. Those who remember Jim can honor him by living with intention and embracing healing.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Jim’s name to: Semper Fi & America’s Fund – Supporting critically wounded, ill, and injured service members, veterans, and military families.

LifeRing Secular Recovery – Providing peer-run addiction recovery services.

Private services will be held and communicated to family and friends, both in Texas at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, and in Scranton, Pennsylvania
