Jacquelyn Slack

Jacquelyn Myrele Slack, known to all as Jackie, passed away on October 27, 2025, just two days after her 90th birthday. Born on October 25, 1935, in Wellington, KS to Jewel and Blanche (Sinnett) Warren, Jackie lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a deep sense of faith. A devoted wife, loving mother, and compassionate friend, Jackie’s generous spirit shone brightly in the community she called home her entire life. Her laughter was infectious, and her heart, ever open.

Jackie was married to Louis Franklin Slack, Sr. on May 1, 1954, in Newkirk, Oklahoma. Their union was blessed with 59 years of blissful marriage before Louis’ passing in 2013. She took immense joy in her role as a homemaker, creating a warm and welcoming environment for all who entered her home. Jackie’s hobbies reflected her nurturing spirit and her love for beauty. She crocheted stunning afghans, gifting them to those she cherished, and was an avid flower gardener, specializing in growing lilies and naked ladies. Jackie and her daughter, Jennifer Stuart, shared many adventures traveling together, from Viking cruises to trips to Russia and Europe.

Jackie was a longtime member of the Episcopal church, with her spirituality being a cornerstone of her life. As she grew older, she enjoyed visiting other churches with friends. Jackie is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Stuart and husband David Wayne of Aurora, Colorado; grandson, Mickey Stevens of Aurora, Colorado; and several nieces, nephews and their families. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, a loving husband, and four sisters: Frances, Jean, Bonnie, and Caroline.

A memorial service for Jackie will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Cornejo Funeral Home, Wellington, Kansas. A private interment will follow at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Wellington, Kansas. We invite all who knew Jackie to celebrate her life and the love she shared with us all.
