Jacinta Ponce

Jacinta Mendoza Ponce, 75, of Versailles, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025, at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington. Born August 17, 1949, in Higuera Bustamante, Tamaulipas, Mexico, to the late Pedro Ponce and Baudelia Mendoza, Jacinta carried with her the rich traditions and values of her upbringing. She was happiest with her hands in the soil, planting flowers that brightened her home and vegetables that would later find their way into her family’s meals. Her life was a beautiful blend of hard work, devotion, and endless generosity.

For Jacinta, family was not just important—it was everything. She delighted in preparing large, heartfelt meals, bringing together her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren around a full table. Every gathering was filled with the sound of laughter, the smell of fresh homemade dishes, and the joy of simply being together. Jacinta believed that love was best shown through acts of care, and she poured that love into every plate she served, every seed she planted, and every embrace she gave. Her home was a place where everyone felt welcome, where stories were shared, and where the bonds of family grew even stronger.

Jacinta’s love continues to live on through those she cherished most. She is survived by her husband Macario Pecina, sons, Edilberto Pecina, Francisco Pecina, Jose Pecina, and Macario Pecina; her daughter, Juany Pecina; her brothers, Cruz Ponce and Fidel Ponce; her sisters, Esther Ponce, Josefa Ponce, and Mary Ponce; her beloved grandchildren, Aracely, Gladys, Jose Jr., Santiago, Lichy, Noe, Odalys, Anai, Ximena, Betsy, Jenny, Stephanie, Leslie, Alex, Francisco Jr., Sandy, Jonathan, and Michael; and her great-grandchildren, Esmeralda, Julia, Camila, Alejandro, Mia, Ema, and Avani. She will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family, her selfless spirit, and the way her presence could fill a room with warmth.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at St. Leo Catholic Church in Versailles, Kentucky. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 10:30 am with burial following at Rose Crest Cemetery.
