Webster – Irene B. (Santerre) Harvanek, 81, of Webster, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025 in the care of Brookdale Eddy Pond Senior Living, Autumn Hospice, family, and care team. She was the loving wife of the late Terrence F. Harvanek, who died in 1978. She kept Terry’s dream alive by maintaining his property on the lake. Born in Putnam, CT she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Alberta (Grenier) Santerre. She lived in Grosvenordale, CT until she married Terry in 1966 and moved to Webster, MA.
Mrs. Harvanek was employed by Commerce Insurance in Webster, followed by Webster Five Cents Savings Bank until her retirement in 2006. She was an active member of St. Louis Parish and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society. She was a former member of the Serra Club of Southern Worcester County and a continued supporter of Worcester vocations.
Irene is survived by her son Thomas Harvanek of N. Grosvenordale; her brother Maurice Santerre of N. Grosvenordale; and her granddaughter, Camile R. Harvanek. She is predeceased by her son, the late James B. Harvanek, her brothers Leon, Rene, Richard, Gerard and Norbert “Metz” Santerre and sisters Theresa Auger and Cecile Santerre.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit with Irene’s family from 4:00pm to 6:30pm on Wednesday May 14, 2025 in the Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main Street. North Grosvenordale. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin on Thursday May 15, 2025 at 10:00am in St. Louis Church, 15 Lake Street, Webster, MA. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Garden of Peace, Webster.
