Helen C. DeJohn entered into eternal rest on October 14, 2024, at Friedwald Center for Rehab & Nursing in New City, NY. She was 99 years old. The daughter of the late David Woods and Ursula Roselle was born on May 18, 1925, in New York, NY.
After a long and successful career, Helen retired from her position at Lederle Labs in Pearl River, NY.
For 72 years, she wholeheartedly dedicated herself to her late husband, Augustino. She also embraced her role as a nurturing mother, cherished grandmother, and adored great-grandmother.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Joanne Dore and her husband, Thomas, of Middletown, NY; and Helene Klimoski of Fort Montgomery, NY; and will be deeply missed by her grandchildren: Theresa, Thomas, Jolene, Joseph, Meghan; great-grandchildren: Arianne, Brayden, Andrew, Jared, Jaxon, and Caleb, and by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Helen has been reunited with her beloved husband Augustino DeJohn, and siblings: Clifford Woods, William Woods, Thursa Horbatuk, Ursula Markey, and Miriam Lawless.
Visitation for Helen and her husband, Augustino, who passed away March 20, 2020, during Covid, will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with a Chapel Service beginning at 6:45 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024, at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main St., Highland Falls, NY. A Graveside Service Honoring their lives will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Orange County Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, where Augustino will receive Military Honors for his dedication to serving his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.
