Harry Noon
- August 22, 2024

It is with great sadness that the family of Harry Noon announces his passing.
Harry was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, just three days before American Thanksgiving. He was named after his Uncle Harry who in World War ll served as a pilot flying out of England, was shot down and died in Northern France.
He inherited his grandpa’s mechanical skills; his moms artistic eye; and his dads engineering mind.
As a young boy, he was always Mr. Curious, asking “How does that work?” He and his brother John were the Go Cart Guys of the neighborhood who helped build and carry out many automotive adventures.
Harrys career and Life Plan:
He graduated from North Central High School where he studied German and learned to speak it well thanks to his employment at Schwinn Bicycle & Repair Shop. He went to Ball State University then transferred to Washburn University in Topeka Kansas, graduating with a Business degree.
*1970 he launched his Corporate Career with HD Lee Company as an industrial engineer installing automated systems for Manufacturing & Distribution, then won a National Award for Palletized Materials Handling Systems in 20 different facilities in 1975.
*1980 he joined Levis Strauss revolutionizing its warehousing Operations-from 3 shifts a day / 7 days a week; to 2 shifts a day / 5 days a week & making the budget.
*I983 he became recognized as a Mensa member for Mechanical Problem Solving in the top 99th percentile.
*1984 Levi Strauss loaned him to the U.S. Olympics Committee to figure out how to move 50,000 athletes from event to event.
*1985 he started his own Consulting/Materials Handling Business called “Peak Products.”

*1986 Harry moved to Denver, Colorado; where he met his wife, Geralyn who he fondly referred to as his “treasure.”
*1988 while in Denver, Harry started Garage Door R and R Mechanical, specializing in Doors, Openers, and Power Gates. He earned the contract for repairing all the garage doors in his townhouse complex.
*1991 Harry and Gerry relocated to San Diego. Harry brought his business acumen and opened up Garage Door R&R in San Diego. Harrys FIRST garage door order/installation was from our postman who kept delivering all these “garage door” brochures to Harry. He spoke broken English; pointed at a photo & then at himself and said, “This door – me.”
Harry “custom designed” all the work trucks “in and out;” including his own company sign. The first was a Volkswagen van. The second a yellow school bus; (hence the recognizable school bus yellow/orangey color that would stay with the company.)
We cannot forget the time he quickly spray painted the truck and then it rained- OH MY, Streaks everywhere!! His cohorts still laugh about that today and what about the time he had a color he wanted to use up-his buddies did not like the red/orangy hue, so immediately Harry changed it back. Another, we still laugh about……
Harry used his skills of creativity, artistry, geometry, and design in his business/personal life.
He ran his Life by his business motto: First: SHOW UP; Second: Get the job DONE; and Third: Have SPIRIT
Over and Over he would say, the best part of his job was his customers,
“We have the BEST customers ever!!!!” (Especially the car-nuts)
He vowed to repair all garages as if it was his parents garage. “I have to look in the mirror every morning and I have to sleep at night, I must consistently take good care of my customers!!
In his spare time; Harry enjoyed “building up anything that MOVED on wheels. Name it, he did it—go carts, skate boards, trikes, bikes, trailers, cars, vans, work trucks, and our motorhome.
I can’t say enough about our motorhome trips to Denver, Austin & McAllen,Tex. and northern/eastern California. We especially enjoyed our many motorhome weekends at Torrey Pines beach Del Mar,(the photo on todays program) Sunset Cliffs, Mission/Pacific Beach, Solana and Oceanside beaches, Julian, Mt Laguna, and desert adventures too.
He was fascinated and enjoyed being “out with nature” whether skiing, taking a jeep in the Colo. mountains, hiking, photographing, staring/relaxing at the ocean, and camping under the stars. Gods artwork consistently left him in awe. I will always picture him quietly relaxing, to Zen with the waves.
Harry felt his job was not to amass great wealth, but to give to those in need and he did by his time, talent and treasure. He donated his time and his money via varying “PROJECTS” over the years== with varying causes, with family, with friends, and with neighbors. He was humble, patient, trustworthy, forgiving, gentle spirited, generous and kind hearted.
Harry is survived by his wife, Geralyn. By his sister Sally, her husband Steve and daughters Stephanie and Nicole and their children. He is also survived by his brother John, wife Kay and their 2 sons; Jacob and Sam.
Harry will be sadly missed by all whose life he touched.
Harry Bernard Noon you will remain forever in our hearts.
