Gwendolyn Street

Gwendolyn Street peacefully passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025, at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, NJ. She was born to the late Joseph Burton Sr. and Effie Burton on October 25, 1947 in Oxford, NC.

She graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1964. She was employed at Absecon Manor for 22 years before retiring as a Certified Nurse Aide in 2013. She was loved by many, had a heart of gold, was the glue of the family and had strong faith in the Lord. She touched the lives around her, poured love into her family, friends and gave words of wisdom.

She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph Burton Sr. and Effie Burton; husband, Harold Street Sr.; sister, Odessa Harris (Joseph Harris); brothers, Joseph Burton Jr. and Bernard Burton.  She is survived by one sister, Bernadine Anderson (John Anderson, Sr.) and a special friend, Isaac Riggins.

Gwen leaves behind a legacy of love; her 7 children, Harold Street, Jr. (Heidy), Lisa Street, Maurice Street, Sharmaine Street, Keith Street, Taahirah Street and Isaac Riggins;

29 grandkids, 42 great grandkids and a host of nieces, nephews and many dear friends. 

Though our hearts are broken, we celebrate the beautiful life she lived.
