Gwendoline McAuley

Gwendoline Anne McAuley (nee: Brennan) was born on October 17, 1936 in Dublin, Ireland to parents, Mary Meehan and Joseph Brennan. She grew up in Dublin with her parents and 13 siblings, Denise Roberts, Joan Giaccio, Mary Fisher, Patricia Jordan, Brian Brennan, Carl Brennan, Con Brennan, Eamon Brennan, Malachi Brennan, Patrick Brennan, Phil “Buddy” Brennan and Rory Brennan.
Gwenny married Sean on September 20, 1960. They had their first two children in Dublin, Barbara McAuley Lee and Colm McAuley. They immigrated to the United States in 1963. They settled in the Bronx for a short time and proceeded to raise their children in Jersey City. Barry and Rory were born in the states. Sean predeceased Gwen in September of 1990.
Gwendoline worked for Hudson County in the Office of the Registrar for many years before retiring in 2007.
Gwenny was a very proud Dubliner who brought joy and laughter to everyone she had the pleasure to meet. She never missed an opportunity to hold court and to tell stories of the old days in Ireland with her brothers and sisters. She will be missed dearly by her four children, Barbara, Colm, Barry and Rory, three daughter’s-in-law, Julie, Kathy, Michelle and her nine grandchildren, Gabrielle Lee, Connor McAuley, Megan McAuley, Liam McAuley, Ava McAuley, Roma McAuley, Rory McAuley, Brennan McAuley and Owen Mcauley as well as numerous friends and acquaintances.
Cremation was held privately. A Memorial Service will take place at McLaughlin Funeral Home, 625 Pavonia Ave., Jersey City on Friday, December 8th from 3-6 PM. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
