Guy Homes

Guy W. “Buck” Homes (81) was born in Phoenix on November 9, 1943 and went to be with his Lord and Saviour on July 19, 2025. He was predeceased by parents Guy and Ocie Homes and sisters Corene Wesson and Shirley Keneally.

Buck was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend. He and his wife Carolyn were high school sweethearts (Central High) and were married for 58 years. Together they had two children, Janis (Charlie) Bladine and Jared (Julie) Homes; five grandchildren, Tyler Rodgers, Cameron and Emily Homes, and Megan and Matthew Bladine; and one great granddaughter, Remi Rodgers.

Buck attended ASU and joined Theta Delta Chi where he made lifelong friends.

For approx. 50 years, Buck’s name was synonymous with Barrett-Homes Contractors. He began there as a teenager working for his father and Mr. Bud Barrett as a custodian and laborer. Buck worked his way up eventually purchasing the company and becoming President.

He was a founding member of the Arizona Chapter of American Subcontractors Association where he served as President, worked on numerous committees, and advocated for subcontractors across the state.

He was a dedicated member of Madison (Baptist) Church where he volunteered his time and skills in leadership and service.

Buck was a quiet “people person” who was quick to listen and ready with a helping hand. He built relationships wherever he went. Family, friends, architects, contractors, employees, church family, neighbors all counted on him as friend, advisor, counselor, mentor, and sounding board. He will be greatly missed by many but is no doubt basking in God’s love.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 2nd at Madison Church, 6202 N. 12th St. in Phoenix, with a reception to follow. Memorial donations may be made in Guy’s name to the church. Arrangements are made by and live-streaming hosted by Hansen Mortuary.
