It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Gordon Lloyd Price, of Kingston, Ontario on Sunday, October 5, 2025, two days shy of his 88th birthday.
Gord was born on October 7, 1937, in Montreal, Quebec, to Charles Edward Price and Emma Charlotte Price (née Colethorpe). He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Hélène Marie (née Larocque), his son Chris (Kim), and granddaughter Kieran. Gord was predeceased by his brother, Albert (Anita), and his sister, Irene(Ted).
Starting his early career as a draftsman at age 14, Gord dedicated himself to lifelong learning, attending night school and rising through various drafting and design roles. He became the Eastern Canada Design Manager for DuPont, where his innovative work earned him several patents. After moving to Ontario in 1972 for a brief venture in creating a retail franchise, he spent 23 years as a salesman for Standard Paper Box in Belleville. Concurrently he grew hay and wheat and at times a market garden on their hobby farm in Napanee.
Upon retirement, Gord channeled his boundless energy into his passions, founding Kingston Packaging and immersing himself in creative pursuits. He was a skilled wood carver, watercolour painter, and woodworker; combining all three to make bass lures for fishing at his ever improving cottage on Shabomeka. He spent one summer re-siding a house and replacing all the windows, and the next building a large extension on his own, overlooking the woods at Nicholson point, where he enjoyed daily walks on paths he had helped cut and maintain.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the research-based charity of your choice.
