Gordon Gannaway

Gordon Brent Gannaway, 77, of Greendale, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025. He was born September 2, 1947 in Cincinnati, Ohio, son of the late Thomas Gannaway Jr.and Evelyn Acklin.

Gordon graduated from Withrow High School. He then served in the United States Marine Corps from 1966-1970 during Vietnam. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed his music and liked to eat out. He was a fan of all sports but especially the Denver Broncos. He worked at Seagram’s Distillery for 42 years (July 1965 to July 2007). Gordon was a loving husband, father, grandfather and will be missed by everyone that knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years (together for 31 years), Jane Gannaway; 2 sons, Shawn Gannaway of Cincinnati, OH, Gordon Gannaway Jr. of Cincinnati, OH; 3 daughters, Ta Gannaway of Cincinnati, OH, Siovhan Gannaway of Cincinnati, OH, Gretchen Gannaway of Cincinnati, OH; 2 brothers, James Favors of Cincinnati, OH, Paul Christian of Lawrenceburg, IN; one sister, Yvette Favors of Cincinnati, OH; a host of, grandchildren and great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Gannaway Jr.; mother, Evelyn Acklin; step mother, Marjorie Gannaway; son, Tavis Long; one brother, Thomas Copeland; “grandma Tootie”, Flora Adkins; “aunt sis”, Alberta Lucas; and “aunt Jonny”, Georgiene Harris.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Union Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m., with Rev. Sheldon Rox officiating and Lawrence Brightwell reading the Eulogy.
