GLENN HOLMAN

It is with profound sadness that we share that Glenn Courtier Holman, Jr. passed away on July 3, 2025 at the age of 83 while bicycling with his friends. He was born in Black River Falls, WI on June 2, 1942 to Glenn and Ruth (Courtier) Holman and was raised in rural Eau Claire, WI. Glenn loved his life as a “farm kid,” growing up with his two sisters, and cherishing the experiences that farm life offered, including being a member of the Truax Eagles 4-H Club through which he showed his prized steers.

Following his graduation from high school, Glenn earned his bachelor’s degree from Wisconsin State University–Eau Claire with a major in mathematics and minor in chemistry. He then went on to earn a master’s degree from Stout State University in counseling. Glenn served in the US Army and was stationed at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington D.C., which inspired his desire to continue his studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he earned a Ph.D. in psychology.

He married his best friend, Kathleen, in 1970 at the First Presbyterian Church in Neenah, WI. Following Glenn’s graduation from UW-Madison, they settled in Faribault, MN as Glenn began his work as a school psychologist for the Faribault Public Schools. He worked for the school district until 1985 when he opened his own private psychological consulting practice, from which he retired in 2006.

He and Kathleen have two daughters, Heather and Leslie, to whom he was an amazing dad. He loved walking alongside his daughters in any adventure they pursued; teaching, supporting, and cheering them on in whatever way he could. When he became a grandpa, he embraced his new role with the same amount of zeal, spending time with each of his grandsons, cherishing them in the same amazing ways he did his daughters.

Glenn loved nature and all of the silent sports and activities the outdoors provided. He was an avid gardner, creating beautiful flower gardens with Kathleen at their home, cross country skiing and bicycling extensively with the Faribault Flyers Bike and Ski Club, and volunteering at River Bend Nature Center. Glenn loved spending time vacationing in northern Wisconsin with his family; canoeing and biking in the northwoods. Glenn was also an avid wordworker, creating furniture, art, and completing home remodeling projects for his family.

As an active member at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church for 53 years, Glenn served the congregation in many ways, but most recently through the Henry’s Helpers service team. He loved meeting daily with friends for coffee and bicycle rides, cross country ski adventures, or nature hikes, depending on the season. He was always ready to serve his family, neighbors, and friends by meeting any need they may have had.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother Charles Holman, and infant grandson, Jacob Glenn Luecke. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, daughters Heather (and Jeff) Luecke of Waukesha, WI, and Leslie (and John) Holt of Minneapolis, MN, grandsons Nelson, Teddy, and Drew Luecke and Jackson and Charlie Holt, his sisters, Cheryl (and Bob) Marx and Naomi (and Warren) Woods, and a large extended family.

A celebration of life service will be held at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Faribault on Saturday July 26 at 2 p.m. with visitation taking place at the church one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to River Bend Nature Center or Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, both in Faribault.
