Glenn Fahlberg

Glenn Addison Fahlberg, known to all as “Ad”, was born on June 11, 1922 in rural Beresford, South Dakota. He grew up on the family farm during the Depression and Dust Bowl years of the 1930s. He completed a Chemical Engineering degree at Iowa State College in 1943, and shortly thereafter entered Navy Officers Training. He served aboard the USS Audubon troop transport ship on numerous voyages throughout the Pacific during World War II. After returning to civilian life, Ad and two business partners joined together in Denver, Colorado to form Timberline Fabrics Company, and later, Industrial Textiles Company. These businesses thrived until the three partners retired.

Ad married Mary Laber in April of 1950. During their early years together they formed lifelong friendships through the Mariners Group at Montview Presbyterian Church, and later, at Wellshire Presbyterian Church. Together they raised four children, took them all on many memorable travel journeys, and encouraged all four to successful completions of college degrees. Ad & Mary remained a devoted and loving couple until Mary’s death in October of 1994.

Ad was an inventor and a builder. He could repair anything, and he did excellent work with home improvements for himself and his children. He loved adventure and the outdoors. He traveled widely well into his eighties, including several group bicycle tours in Europe, and numerous weekend trips to the Colorado ski slopes.

Ad will be remembered by all as being endlessly kind and considerate of others. He is survived by his four children: Russell (and Robin) Fahlberg of Dunlap, Illinois; Marjorie (and Randy) Bender of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Roger (and Kay) Fahlberg of Denver, Colorado; and Patricia (and Dan) Billman of Duluth, Minnesota; and his four grandchildren: Joseph, Tim, Sharon, and Ati.
